MICHAEL J. DINGEY

1960 - 2023

Michael J. Dingey, age 62 of Munson, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at his residence.

Born July 30, 1960, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., he was the son of the late Leon C. and Norine (Argy) Dingey.

On June 22, 1985, he wed the love of his life who survives in Munson, Laurie A. (Smeal) Dingey in the Kylertown Presbyterian Church.

Along with his wife he is survived by his children, Sarah A. Dingey of Munson, Mariah D. Shaw and husband Mark of Winburne, and Daren L. Dingey of Altoona; his grandchildren, Dayton, Jameson, Makayla, Rilee, Liam, Levi and Marleigh.

He was last of his generation.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Victoria Dingey; and a sister, Leona Pedmo.

Michael was a member of the former Kylertown Presbyterian Church. He was a 1978 graduate of West Branch Area High School and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 423, Duncansville. From 1978 to 1981 he was a veteran of the United States Army Infantry, Sargent, E-5, as a mechanic, and where he earned the Army Commendation Medal.

He was a member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsman Club in Frenchville, and he loved the Quehanna Wilderness Area. He loved Deserter Run Camp, hunting and fishing. He loved his 1959 Chevy Apache Truck and his 1972 Challenger car. But most of all, he loved his grandbabies.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale and again on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 10 a.m. until time of service in the chapel of the funeral home at noon with lay minister Gary Jewart officiating.

He will be laid to rest in the Kylertown Presbyterian Church.

Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the American Legion, Post 437 Honor Guard, Philipsburg.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Michael's memory to 549 Chestnut St., Munson PA, 16860 in order to help maintain his treasured Deserter Run Camp.
