NANCY FRISCO Obituary

NANCY P. FRISCO

CLEARFIELD - Nancy Patricia Frisco, 87, of Clearfield, died on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1936 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late George and Roberta (Burton) Rhone.

Mrs. Frisco, a 1953 graduate of Clearfield High School, was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother over the final 67 years of her life. With her husband Bob providing the economic foundation, Mrs. Frisco was a full-time homemaker who prided herself on her ability to manage a full household, a task that required the simultaneous execution of many talents, including the 1960s classic of running a canister sweeper with one arm while holding an infant in the other. If she possessed a third arm, which she did not, it would have been preparing the always tasty nightly dinner. Despite the ongoing tasks, she kept her children fed and nurtured and her homes clean and neat, quite the challenge with those five messy kids doing their best to interrupt her daily routine.

Recently, Mrs. Frisco revealed that she had determined as a teenager that she wanted to have all her children by the age of 30. She not only achieved that goal, she did so with stunning efficiency, delivering her first two children a mere 10 months and three weeks apart and her fifth and final child with time to spare, less than a month before her 29th birthday. Family history does not record whether Mrs. Frisco formally announced her retirement from the art of birthing on Dec. 19, 1964, but she would have been entitled to such a pronouncement. It is possible she did not consider the feat extraordinary, herself being the 7th of 10 siblings (her husband was the last of 12). More than likely, she was just exhausted.

Mrs. Frisco considered motherhood a calling and did her best, but where she shone the brightest was as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Nene (pronounced knee-knee), so named by her first grandson in the traditional manner, reveled in their presence and - probably - bragged about them to friends and acquaintances, as any good grandma and great-grandma would. One of her favorite days of the year for decades was the Christmas Eve celebration at her Clearfield home when the entire family gathered, ate well and exchanged presents. Family history does note that she had a good sense of gifts, especially when those offerings mutated to cash in her latter years. The grandkids liked the cards, too, once they circled back to actually reading them.

And now, after decades of attending to the needs of others, Mrs. Frisco has found eternal comfort in the loving arms of God. Rest in peace, Nene.

She is survived by four children, Rod L. Frisco and wife Debra of Mechanicsburg, Randy E. Frisco of Clearfield, Diane R. Forcey and husband David of Smithmill, and Michael R. Frisco and wife Tera of DuBois; nine grandchildren, Dusten Frisco and fiance Kyle Elliott of Clearfield, Jesse Forcey and wife Jen of Pittsburgh, Melanie Rossman and husband Kyle of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Abbey Frisco of Hanover, Halle Frisco of Frederick, Md., Noelle Frisco of Allentown, Megan Maro of Mechanicsburg, Gavin Sharp and partner Bethany Gregory of DuBois, Colton Sharp of DuBois; four great grandchildren, Caden, Couper, Jaxen, and Harper; two brothers, Donald Rhone of Clearfield, and Jerry Rhone and wife Patty of Fairview; and a sister, Sally Middlestetter of Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Frisco; a son, Robert L. Frisco II; and six siblings, George Jr. (""Juge""), Burton (""Burt""), Mae, Whitner (""Buss""), Elnora (""Noey""), and Judith (""Judy"").

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

My condolences to the Frisco family. The Friscos were our next door neighbors when I was growing up. Nancy was one of our neighborhood "Moms." I remember her well. She was always willing to lend a cup of sugar or anything we needed in a pinch. I can still see her standing talking with my mother in our backyard when we were kids. Rest well Mrs. Frisco.
