RUTH CATHERINA WOOSTER

1923 - 2021

Ruth Catherina Wooster, 97, of Clearfield died on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

She was born on May 12, 1923 in Snow Shoe, a daughter of the late Edgar C. and Mary (Blair) Leigey.

Mrs. Wooster was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the former Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a volunteer at the Clearfield Hospital, a member of the Chinklacamoose Square Dance Club, the Old Fashioned Square Dance Club and the Allegheny Valley Square Dance Federation. In addition, she was a member of the Oak Hill Grange 7th Degree Club and a Pennsylvania Pamona Member.

She is survived by her daughter, Billie Jean Steinbach of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Frederick Wooster on March 26, 2007 and whom she wed Feb. 26, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Frenchville. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Knepp; a grandson, William Brian Read; four brothers, Earl 'Sonny', James, Patrick, and George Leigey; and a sister, Evelyn Royer.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Monday from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Masks will be required at the funeral home and at the church.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis School Endowment Fund, 212 South Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
