Thomas Edward Knepp

1943 - 2025

BURNSIDE - Thomas Edward Knepp, 81, of Burnside, departed this life on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

Tom was born June 7, 1943, in Clearfield, the son of the late Margaret (Parks) Knepp and Alfred J. Knepp. He attended Clearfield High School and was a member of the class of 1961.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves, then worked as an Electrical Lineman for Metropolitan Edison Co. for 25 years. He served as the shop steward for the local order of the IBEW until his retirement. In retirement, he was very involved with AMVETS.

Tom was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trained a small stable of standardbred racehorses. He was best known on the PA Fair Circuit where he raced beginning in the 1970s. He most enjoyed racing at his hometown fair in Clearfield where he visited with friends and family.

He is survived by his brother, John Knepp, Meadowview, Va.; sister, Peggy Jo Thompson, Vienna, Ohio; his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara Creek, Hanover; son, The Rev. Gregg Knepp (Karen), Bethel Park; daughter Tracy Selby (Bruce), York; five grandchildren, Hunter Selby, Camden Selby, Maya Knepp, Gabriel Knepp, Syan Knepp and one great-grandchild, Shawn; niece, Debbie Hale and nephew, Michael McCune.

He is predeceased by his parents; niece, Karen Knepp; and second wife, Carol (Bieser) Knepp.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 13 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 933 Brookline Blvd., Pittsburgh, with luncheon to follow the service. His son, The Rev. Gregg Knepp, officiated. Contributions in his memory may be made to AMVETS, Clearfield County ASPCA, or St. Mark Lutheran Church.
