George Haugh Obituary

May 1, 1922 - Oct. 13, 2010

George W. Haugh, Jr., a long time resident of Vacaville, passed away peacefully on Oct. 13. He is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

George was born in Taft, Calif., on May 1, 1922. He was a World War II veteran, a sergeant in the Army Air Force and flight engineer on Mitchell B-52's. He was based at La Junta, Colo., and Dover, Del. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Before entering the service, George worked on submarines at Mare Island. After he was discharged he returned to Mare Island for a short time; then transferred to Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield. He was trained to be a jet mechanic and worked at Travis for more than 30 years.

George married Dorothy Harter in 1947 in Oakland. She preceded him in death in 1999.

Surviving George are a niece, two nephews, nine great nephews, his brother, James and his sister-in-law, Eleanor.

He had many good friends who will miss him and his great sense of humor.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at Nadeau Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m.
