Lawrence F. Sheldon was born Aug. 26, 1930 in Durand, WI to parents, Lawrence A. Sheldon and Angela S. (Baur) Sheldon. He married Mary Catherine Enders, July 18, 1951 in Arkansaw, WI.

Larry was a graduate of Durand High School, Durand, WI and the University of Omaha in Nebraska. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Southern California.

Survived by his wife, Mary C. Sheldon and six children, Linda M. Adams, Michael L. Sheldon, Susan D. Atkinson, Stephen J. Sheldon, Debra K. Sheldon, and David F. Sheldon; five grandchildren, Jason K. Adams, Keith R. Adams, Erin M. Adams, Allison M. Sheldon, and Michael A. Atkinson.

Larry retired as a CMSgt from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of service. He was stationed in many locations including New Jersey, France, Utah, Germany, Wisconsin, Ohio, Alaska, Vietnam, Johnston Island, and California. After retirement, he worked for the California Department of Corrections in San Luis Obispo for a short time, then transferred to the Vacaville facility as Canteen Manager for 13 years, and retired from there in 1989.

In 1984, both Larry and Mary attended classes through the Permanent Diaconate training in the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento. Larry was ordained a Deacon on June 4, 1988 for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Fairfield. In 1996, they moved to San Diego, where he served as a Deacon at the Mission San Diego until 2002, returning to Solano County where his health started to decline while living in Vacaville and Fairfield.

He fell and broke his hip in January 2014 and spent the last 18 months of his life in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living.

A Visitation and Wake Service will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, in Fairfield, on Thursday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, in Fairfield, on Friday, July 10 at 11 a.m.
