Lena Posey Obituary

Always known as Nena, our mother was a remarkable woman. She married Raymond Posey Sr. on June 4, 1946 while she was working as a bank teller in Los Angeles. She loved the beach, the citrus orchards, dancing, and the city life, but that was all to change as Ray's career in the Air Force became a reality. Four children were to follow in the next eleven years as Ray's military transfers took them to the East Coast, the South, and the Mid-West. Nena always made a comfortable home for the family wherever they lived, establishing gardens at all the different places. Missing her family and the beach in LA, she made sure that summer vacations with the family involved cross-country trips to visit the Italian side of the family in Southern California. Taking advantage of the tour of duty in France, Nena included the entire family as we explored that country as well as Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Back in the USA for only a couple of years, the family was off to Okinawa as Ray was stationed in Viet Nam. Nena then developed her love of sports becoming a better bowler and golfer. Returning to the states, Nena was delighted for Ray to retire out of Travis AFB and buy a house in Vacaville in 1969. Feeling that she had found home, at last, she and Ray became the proud owners of Ray's Cycle & Mower (later to be known as Ray's Cyle) in 1972. A few years later, they became the owners and landlords of the Triangle Building in downtown Vacaville. Nena became a fixture at the shop, the downtown area, the chamber of commerce, the golf and bowling teams, and a member of the community. She still loved to travel and took many trips with the Italian cousins. Upon Ray's passing in 1997, Nena stepped up to overseeing the business of Ray's Cycle and the management of the Triangle Building. Nena is survived by sons Raymond Posey Jr., Michael Posey, Christopher Posey, and daughter Pamela Posey. She has 7 surviving grandchildren-Brent, Nick, Sarah, Taura, Mike, Danielle, Christopher, and 6 great grandchildren-Mia, Max, Maverick, Tatum, Lucas, Macaven. Nena was a force of nature and will be missed by all.

I am so sorry to hear about Nena. What a great great lady. We bowled every week and played golf together for 20 years.
