Richard Luna Obituary

May 26, 1944 - March 22, 2014

It is with much sadness but with a great deal of love and respect that we announce the passing of Richard "Rick" Luna, March 22 in Vacaville after a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, while surrounded by family and friends.

Rick was married to the love of his life June for 48 years. His greatest joy was certainly his family, who always came first. Rick enjoyed nothing more than doing projects with his daughter, attending his grandsons' sporting events and sharing in their accomplishments, traveling, camping, and working in his gorgeous yard. Rick worked as a Court Reporter for Contra Costa County for 34 years before retiring in 2006. Rick was the perfect definition of a great husband, father, and Papa. He will be remembered for his great smile, laugh, and quick wit.

Rick is survived by his wife, June; daughter, Denise Matlock (Jeff); grandsons, Zak and Tyler, and sister, Sandy Anderson along with many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Vada Luna.

Rick will be remembered as a "true family man." He will forever be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24 from noon to 5 p.m., Ulatis Cultural/Community Center 1000 Ulatis Drive, Vacaville, CA 95687. Rick requested casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St. Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611.
