Barbara, Tricia & Kelley. Im not sure this message will even reach you after auch a long time but I felt compelled to write anyway. My deepest sympathy on the loss of yur husband & father. I was blessed to know Steve for a few years in the early 1970s while stationed at Torrejon AFB outside of Madrid, Spain. He was a good guy with a wild side that definitely made the long times so much more bearable. I recently saw a rerun of Ken Burns documentary Country Music & immediately thought of Steve during the Hank Williams segment. Steve's renditions were actually pretty good although he usually belted them out after we both were considerably "under the influence". Anyway, just wanted u to know that Steve & Barbara were fondly thought about many times over the decades. Thanks for making my life a lot happier during those times. God bless you.

So many memories! Playing cards every weekend(we did indeed think they had signals but Barb, we did beat them occasionally!), watching the kids play, cooking together, going to Reno or Tahoe, no matter what situation, there always alot of laughing going on. Steve loved and was loved...I miss the smile and the always thinking mind. As Aunt Nadine said, he was brilliant!

Steve was a brilliant, gifted, caring person. He could calculate math problems in his head before I could write them onto paper. His father and I used to jest that Steve let us raise him because he loved us. Not because we were smarter as he knew we weren't but didn't tell us for fear of wounding our sensibilities. He brought great joy, happiness and pleasure into our lives. There will now be a great void. We love and miss you Steve - Mom

I met Steve through softball many years ago. We played together and against each other from time to time throughout the years. I am devastated to hear of his passing. So young, so full of life, so encouraging, so thoughtful. It was always a pleasure to sit beside him, to converse with him, to learn from him, and to laugh with him in the dugout. God's finger has touched him and now he sleeps.

Thanks for the memories. What a pleasure to watch you play baseball. No fence could stop you when you were going after a fly ball. What a wife you chose in Barbara, who so faithfully cared for you. Be sure they have a special place for her in Heaven beside you.

Barbara - I just read of Steves' passing. I am so sorry for your loss. What a devestating disease that took a longtime friend way too young in life. It breaks my heart but I find some comfort in knowing at least he is at peace now. I pray that helps you too. Call if you need anything. Love
