Warren Mark Cook

1921 - 2018

March 8, 1921 - Feb. 20, 2018 Vacaville It is with great sadness that the family of Warren Mark Cook announces his passing on Feb. 20, after a brief illness at the age of 97. Warren will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mike (Jody), John (Callie) and Rocky (Martha). Warren will also be fondly missed by his three grandchildren, Jonathan Mark, Julie Ann and Andrew Mark; numerous great grandchildren and his favorite nieces, Peggy Cook and Jackie Bottoms. Warren was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Catherine; parents, John B. Cook, and Clara Cook; brother, Jack Cook, and sister, Betty Chapman. A native of Okmulgee, OK, Warren attended Chillicothe Business College for two years before enlisting as a cadet in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was called back into the Air Force during the Berlin Airlift and spent 24 years as a military pilot retiring in 1966 as a Lt. Colonel. After his military career, he spent 15 years as a DC-10 Captain for World Airways. He was very proud of his 30,000 plus, accident free command flying hours amassed during three wars and a civilian flying career. Busy as he was flying he found time in 1946 to meet and marry the love of his life, Catherine, while working for the Army Corps of Engineers mapping aerial dam locations.They spent many happy years together travelling the world. An avid fisherman, Warren spent his retirement years touring the country in his motorhome, his loyal dachshund by his side. He never lost his small town southern charm and always loved a party! He was a very kind soul, always generous to family and friends. His final years were enjoyed at Brookdale Assisted Living where he had many friends, including all the great caregivers, and his three buddies that he always sat together with at mealtime. A future burial is planned at the Sacramento National Veterans Cemetery.
