William Roger Frohnen

1926 - 2016

William Roger Frohnen passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the age of 90. He resided in Rocklin, CA.

Known as Roger in his earlier years and Bill later, he was born July 21, 1926 to William Peter and Florence (Rogers) Frohnen in Council Bluffs, IA, and grew up in Omaha, NE. After graduating high school at Benson High in Omaha, Bill served in World War II. After the war, he received a BS degree in Science at Iowa State University, Ames (and later received a Master's in Business Administration from Seattle University). He met Mary Grace Larsen and they married in St. Cecelia's Catholic Cathedral in Omaha June 14, 1948. With transfers and new positions in business, Bill and the family lived in Rochester, NY; Bountiful, UT (where their six children were born); back to Omaha, NE; Camp Hill, PA; Redmond, WA; Danville, CA; Pittsburgh, PA (where he was Treasurer for U.S. Steel); and back to Danville; before retiring in Vacaville, where they were active in the community and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Bill was dedicated to his wife Mary, loved his family, and gathering with them was important to him. Bill is preceded in death by Mary, his wife of 66 years; half-brother, Boyd; and brother, Richard. Bill is survived by his six children and their spouses, son, Mark (Eileen), of Alamo; son, Tod (Tami), of Park City, UT; daughter, Paula (Christopher) Cole of Folsom; daughter, Clare (Steven) Hiatt of Auburn; son, David (Christine) of Henderson, NV; and son, Bruce (Tonia) of Ann Arbor, MI; 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Jonathon, Colleen, Meghan, Kristen, Amy, Lindsey, Byron, Michaela, and Augie; and one great-grandson, Colin.

A memorial service will be for family, Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Chapel of the Valley in Roseville. Bill then joins his wife Mary at the National Cemetery, Dixon.
