Earl M. Anders

EARL ANDERS Earl M. Anders, 99, of Souderton, formerly of Elroy, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. He was the husband of the late Mary B. (Nyce) Anders. He was born in Harleysville, to the late Menno and Lizzie (Moyer) Anders. Earl was a dairy farmer for over 40 years in Elroy. After retiring in 1972, he was employed and later volunteered at Souderton Mennonite Homes in the laundry and mail department, until August. Earl volunteered much of his time at the Souderton Mennonite Home, Spruce Lake Retreat and the Franconia Mennonite Church. He enjoyed board / table games, shuffleboard, genealogy and local history, traveling to Florida / Iowa with his late wife and spending time with his family and friends. Earl was a member of Franconia Mennonite Church where he served as a former Sunday School teacher, superintendent and trustee. He is survived by daughters, Betty Kratz and husband, Robert, of Souderton, Aldine "Deanie" Frankenfield and husband, Dale, of Elroy, and Rebecca Derstine and husband, G. Dale, of Elroy; sons, Donald Anders and wife, Catherine, of Telford, and Earl Anders and wife, Elaine of Sutton, AK; sister, Betty Hackman and husband, Harrison, of Souderton; brother, Lewis Anders of Kulpsville; 12 grandchildren, Eric, Phillip, David, Cathy, Connie, Blaine, Steve, Neil, Jill, Andrew, Sheldon, and Conrad; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Barry Anders; two sisters, Alma Nyce and Sallie Landes; three brothers, Marvin, Willis "Bill" and Linneaus Anders. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 13 at 3PM at Souderton Mennonite Summit View Auditorium, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, where friends may meet with the family from 1PM to 3PM. Burial will take place at Franconia Mennonite Cemetery.
