Richard Jonas Walp

Richard Jonas Walp of Woxall Richard J. Walp, 81, husband of Ruth E. (Meikrantz) Walp of Woxall, died January 7, 2016. Born in Drums, he was a son of the late Silas E. and Josephine A. (Horn) Walp. He served in the PA National Guard and was a Welder for SPS Technologies, Jenkintown for 40 years. He worked part time at Harleysville YMCA Hugs Daycare. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church, Sumneytown, Perkiomen Lodge No. 595, Red Hill, Lehigh Consistory, Rajah Shrine, and Green Lane – Marlboro Lions Club. He was also a member of the Souderton-Harleysville Fish and Game Club, and a Charter Member of the Ridge Runners Hunting Club. Surviving along with his wife of 56 years are children, Richard J. Walp and wife, Eve of Downingtown; and Allison, wife of Timothy O’Connor of Cherry Hill, NJ; brothers, Allan Walp and wife, Virginia of Coopersburg; and Glenn Walp and wife Diana of Gold Canyon, AZ; sisters, Nancy, wife of Charles Vitello of Jackson, NJ; and Eileen Turnbach of Frackville; five grandchildren, Trevor, Hunter, Mackenzie, Gavin and Collin; and many nieces and nephews He is predeceased by two brothers, William and Rollin. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3104 Main Street, Sumneytown. The visitation starts at 9 a.m. with a Masonic Service at 10:45 a.m. at church.
