Robert Ziegler Obituary

ROBERT M. ZIEGLER Robert M. Ziegler, 81, passed away at his Harleysville residence on June 16, 2014, with his family by his side. He and his wife, Mary (Reiff) Ziegler, observed their 60th wedding anniversary on November 25th of last year. Born April 11, 1933 in Souderton, he was a son of the late Norman and Ruth (Moyer) Ziegler. He was a 1951 graduate of Souderton High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Hatfield Quality Meats for 40 years, retiring in 1995. Mr. Ziegler was an active member of Zion Mennonite Church where he sang in the choir, served on the cemetery committee, and was a former deacon. He was also passionate about his work with the MCC's Material Resource Center. He loved sports especially when his grandchildren were involved. He also spent countless hours maintaining his property and took pride in his work. Above all, he cherished time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Brad Ziegler and his wife, Cheri, of Souderton, Brent Ziegler and his wife, Nanci, of Lower Gwynedd, Bralene Rathgeber and her husband, Jeff, of Souderton, Brooke Ziegler and his wife, Kerrie, of Harleysville, and Becky Yoder and her husband, Bradd, of Rock Hall, MD; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Arlene Landis, of Harleysville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie J. Ziegler; two brothers, Glenn and David Ziegler; and a sister, Lois Lawton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, June 21, at Zion Mennonite Church, 149 Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964, where family will receive friends from 9-10:30AM. A memorial service will follow at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Zion Mennonite Church Capital Campaign at the address above. Dear Mr. Robert Ziegler, It was always good to see you when you and your wife, Mary, would visit me years ago. You had a calm and peaceful personality. You were respected by many people in the family. God be with you! With All Respect, Miss Valerie Lecuona, age 54 years, pictured here

Bob was the greatest neighbor a person could have. He was friendly, helpful, wise, and kind. It was a blessing to see all of the family vehicles around the house every Sunday noon as the family kept close ties. We also enjoyed spending time with he and Mary socially. After living beside him for 51 years, we will miss him much! Mary, we will be praying for God's comfort and strength for you, the children, the grandchildren, and the great grandchildren at this time of loss in your life.

Hello dear Ziegler family. I've been thinking about you a lot this week since mom called to let me know about your Dad/Husband's passing, knowing that it's a time of many mixed emotions. I found myself reminiscing about the many good times our families had together in my child/teen years, including the camping trips, even all the way out to Wyoming. Your family will always be a part of my good memories of Zion too. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you travel through the changes ahead. In addition to the sadness and leave taking, hope this week can be a time of celebrating the great family, community, and church man Bob was.
My sympathies . . . Patti Shoemaker Yoder
