Stella Godshall

Stella Keller Godshall, 103, died Friday, November 18th at ManorCare Health Services, Montgomeryville. She married Jacob Moyer Godshall in Elkton, Maryland in 1938, and they shared 60 years of marriage until his passing in 1998. Born in Souderton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Molly Keller. Mrs. Godshall was the oldest of five children, all of whom preceded her in death. They were Alfred Keller, Helen Ruth, Russell Keller, and Verna Leister. Mrs. Godshall lived in Souderton for most of her life. She graduated from Souderton High School in 1931, and Jefferson Medical School of Nursing in 1935 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked as a registered nurse first at Grandview Hospital, then Doylestown Hospital. The later part of her career was spent in private nursing, mostly in the Doylestown area. She cared for author James Michener for several years, and he always remembered her with first signings of his latest novels, which she treasured. She was a lifelong member of Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek, Telford, where she taught Sunday school and played piano. She was a former President of the Doylestown Business Professional Women’s Association. She also volunteered at Grandview Hospital in her post-retirement years. Mrs. Godshall is survived by her three children, William Godshall, Margaret Stranix of Telford, David Godshall and his wife Donna, of Hatfield, grandchildren William Godshall, Andrew Godshall, and Kristy Virsack, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Roslyn Shaak and her son-in-law Richard Stranix. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek, 171 Church Road, Telford 18969 on Saturday, December 3rd. The family will receive guests at 1:00 with the service beginning at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that contributions in her memory be made to Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek at the address noted above.
