Barry Burbrink Obituary

Barry L. Burbrink, 78, of Columbus passed from this life on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at his home. Born on December 11, 1946, in Columbus, the son of William F. and Norma Jean Bolte Burbrink.

Barry graduated from Seymour High School and proudly served his country as a loadmaster on a C-130 in the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of Sergeant. His strong work ethic continued into civilian life where he dedicated 40 years as a tool and die maker at Cummins Engine Company before his retirement. Barry was a man of faith and grew up attending St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesville where he was baptized and confirmed. He obtained his pilot's license and had a true passion for aviation.

Barry grew up helping out on the family farm. His adventurous spirit led him to the thrill of racing dirt bikes, where he was a member of the Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club. Traveling brought him great joy, with Las Vegas and Aruba as his cherished destinations. He also enjoyed reading, and playing pool and his yearly Veterans Day outings with his brothers.

He is survived by his brothers, Thomas Burbrink, Marshall W. (Kathy J.) Burbrink, and Michael R. (Beverly) Burbrink, all of Seymour. His nieces and nephews, Alicia (Todd) Froedge, David S. Burbrink, Mika D. (Ryan) Ahlbrand, Joshua W. (Alison) Burbrink, Dawn (Jonathan) Simmons, Ashley (Cameron) VanNatta, Mary (Wendell) Willis, Matthew Spurgeon, Abby Burbrink, Erica Burbrink, Jaxson Burbrink, and Josie Burbrink, along with great-nieces and great-nephews, Levi, Liza, and Lily Froedge, Evan and Elle Ahlbrand, William and Matthew Burbrink, and Ethel Willis.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rose D. Burbrink, and sister-in-law Ruth Burbrink.

He left a legacy of kindness, brightening the days of all who knew him with a warm smile and generous spirit. Barry L. Burbrink's life was rich in experiences, relationships, and love. His story will be treasured and recounted by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, yet his positive influence will continue to guide those he left behind.
