Eunice Wessel Obituary

Eunice M. Wessel, 87, of Columbus, passed away at 4 a.m. Thursday July 5, 2018, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Eunice was born September 14, 1930 in Jackson County, the daughter of William and Alice Darlage Stuckwisch.

She married Kenneth B. Wessel on November 6, 1949.

Eunice has been a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church for over 60 years, and previously was employed at Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in the cafeteria of Columbus High School for 36 years.

She enjoyed crocheting, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Eunice especially loved spending Sunday afternoons with her mother and sisters.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 11, 2018 at the Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Tieke officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to St Peter's Lutheran Church "Together We Live - 20/20 Vision" fund.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; sons, Dennis H. (Paulette) Wessel of Columbus, Gary A. Wessel of Columbus and Lester D. (Joanne) Wessel of Greenwood; grandchildren Derek Paul (Claire) Wessel, Shalah (Matt) Noblitt, Sterling Wessel, Jacob Wessel, Matthew (Cassie) Wessel, Samantha (Joe) Walterman, and Ryan Wessel; a step-granddaughter Stacey G. Wetherald; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randall K. Wessel; sisters, Mable Brock and Agnes Christopher, brothers Paul, Glenn, Daniel, Noble, William, Leland and Frank Stuckwisch; as well as a granddaughter-in-law, Kristie Jo Schroer Wessel.
