Gail Lynn Sharp, 77, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the home of her daughter.
Born April 11, 1947, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Donald Pittman and Laverne Anderson Smith. She married Jerry Zeno Sharp on May 22, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on January 28, 2025.
Gail attended the North Vernon High School and later earned her GED. She worked as a substitute teacher for North Vernon Elementary School for 17 years. Gail was a member of the Jennings Church of Christ and an 18-year member of the North Vernon Chapter #183 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and flowers. Gail loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Jeremy (Leslie) Sharp of Dupont; her daughter, Tonya S. (Kevin) Rogers of North Vernon; brothers, Jerry Smith of Hayden and Keith (Michell) Smith of North Vernon; sisters, Charlene (Amos) Sharp and Terry Baldwin, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jeffery (Beth) Sharp of Columbus, A.J. (Chessler) Sharp of Scipio, Dennis (Anna) Webster of Madison, and Daniel (Olivia) Webster of Milton, Kentucky; and great-grandchildren, Abel Sharp and Jasper Sharp, both of Scipio, and Bonnie Webster, Iris Webster, Dorian Webster, and Ezra Webster, all of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Rebecca L. Sharp; stepfather, Joseph Smith; and brother, Dennis Smith.
A funeral service for Gail will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Jennings Church of Christ with the Rev. Dan Corbin officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. An Eastern Star Memorial Service by members of North Vernon Chapter #183 will be held at 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Gail through the funeral home to Jennings Church of Christ.
