It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Sue Sporleder Eaglin on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her residence surrounded by loved ones. Sue was born on November 8, 1942, to Clarence and Mary Catherine Downs Simmons. Sue was a 1960 graduate of North Vernon High School and married Larry L. Sporleder the same year. He preceded her in death.
Sue held several jobs throughout her lifetime with the vast majority being spent in the Jennings County School system as a secretary, aide, and substitute teacher. Many may remember seeing Sue at several high school sporting events selling tickets. However, nothing brought her more joy than living and working alongside her family on their farm in Queensville.
Sue would later meet and marry Wade Eaglin. He also preceded her in death.
Sue enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue was an avid walker and would spend her free time doing so, sometimes up to 12 miles a day. Sue was very much involved in her church and a regular attendee of various Bible studies. She loved playing euchre and other games with friends and family. She was known to be a good cook and hostess and enjoyed frequent family gatherings and cookouts.
In recent years and until her death, Sue spent much of her time with her companion, Ron James. He survives.
Sue leaves behind her brother Jerry (Theresa) Simmons, brother-in-law Melvin (Jeri) Sporleder, children Jeff (Carmen) Sporleder, Kathy (John) Hillen, grandchildren Amber (Bryan) Hook, Derek (Sarah) Hillen, Caitlin (Larron) Smith, Courtney (Trent) Pennington, and great-grandchildren Saylor, Lexi, and Oryn Hook, Maggie and Evie Hillen, Josiah and Asher Smith, Ellie and Carter Pennington, and grand dogs Gus and Tilly.
A celebration of life for Sue will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Kendall Wildey and Rev. Mitch Harrell officiating. The visitation with family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Chamber of Commerce - Tod Sporleder Scholarship.
