On January 28, 1950, Fern married Paul M. Graham, and together they built a life filled with love and music until his passing January 11, 1999. Their union was blessed with a son, Greg Graham of Columbus who survives. Fern is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Fern was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Charles Hardy and Irvin Logston; and sisters, Melba Thompson and Eileen Eastes.
Before dedicating her life to being a homemaker, Fern worked at the Jay C Food Store on Third Street in downtown Columbus and at Arvin Industries. However, it was her role as a homemaker that truly defined her, as she created a nurturing home filled with love, laughter, and music.
Fern's faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Columbus Free Methodist Church, she found great joy and solace in her faith community. Her commitment to her church was matched by her passion for music, as she was an integral part of the Graham Family Gospel Singers. The family's shared love for gospel music culminated in the release of their album in 1972.
Beyond her church and musical endeavors, Fern had a zest for life that was evident in her hobbies. She was an excellent dancer, loved reading, and enjoyed gardening.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2025, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Luke Maggard will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12 p.m. until service time Monday. Fern will be laid to rest next to her husband at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Alzheimer's Association.
