Kay Douglas Obituary

Kay Frances Douglas, 75, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at her residence.

Born July 19, 1950, in Madison, she was the daughter of Wesley and Frances (Bennett) Thomas. She married Darryl Douglas on January 16, 1967, in Hope; he preceded her in death on February 15, 2022.

Kay was a graduate of Seymour High School, she worked as a caregiver for Stone Belt Arc in Bloomington for four years and had previously worked for 12 years with Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, 15 years at Hoosier Christian Village, and as a Home Health Aide. She was a former member of Seymour Community Church and a member of Lowell General Baptist Church in Columbus. Kay enjoyed music, playing the guitar and piano, cooking, flowers and singing.

Survivors include her sons, Eric Douglas of North Vernon and Emanuele Douglas of Versailles; her daughter, Melanie Kiser of North Vernon; sister, Lily Combs of Seymour; grandchildren, Kayla Cain, Lesli McGuire, Samantha Douglas, Ethan McGuire, and Levi Douglas, all of North Vernon, Morgan (Paul Cross) Hayden of Austin, Chase Douglas and Kay Frances Douglas, both of Versailles; great-grandchildren, Aubree Ramey of Commiskey, Raelyn Hughes and Releigh Hughes, both of Memphis, Jaylen Hayden, Leon Gadberry, Wyatt Hayden, and Kingston Hayden, all of Austin, Ava Cain and Aryana Douglas, both of North Vernon, and Daycen Smith of Seymour.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, John, Raymond, Rick and Wesley Thomas Jr.; sisters, Roxie Rowlett and Linda Thomas.

A funeral service for Kay will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Tim Douglas and Rev. Mark Douglas officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Kay to the Lowell General Baptist Church.
