Rita Farran Obituary

Rita M. Farran, 97, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:49 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Majestic Care in North Vernon.

There will be a funeral service conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Don Morris will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service with the Recitation of the Rosary being at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Born on April 10, 1926, in Jennings County, Rita was the loving daughter of Hubert and Theresa (Holderith) Ebbing.

Rita retired after 59 1/2 years from Regal Rugs. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she faithfully did adoration weekly. Over the years, she enjoyed square dancing, sewing, and bowling. Rita took great pride in working and tending to her yard. Most of all she cherished spending time surrounded by her family.

Rita is survived by daughters, Patti (Kenny) Everroad of Scipio, and Jill (Randy) Hardwick of North Vernon; brothers, Leo Ebbing of Ohio, and Paul Ebbing of Arizona; grandchildren, Nicci (Brad) Lucas, Tanya (Shawn) Bauman, Christy (Tom) Moberly, and Jeremy (Nicole) Hardwick; great grandchildren, Charlie and Kason Moberly, Olivia, Sophia, and Andrew Lucas, Calla, and Marin Bauman, Miles, Wes, and Ella Hardwick; sister in law, Yolanda Ebbing of Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Theresa Ebbing; sisters, Ann Hopkins, Mary Ley, and Jean Halcomb; brothers, Ray, Eugene, Robert, Victor, Vincent, and David Ebbing.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the donor's choice of charity.
