Robert Wetherald Obituary

Robert R. "Bob" Wetherald, 89, of Columbus, died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at his home. He was born in Indianapolis on July 11, 1934, to Walter Wetherald and Frances Wilson Wetherald. He married Georgia Lois Allman on May 28, 1955.

Robert retired from Cummins after 35 years of service. He enjoyed talking to everyone, spending time with family, friends, working outdoors, golfing, dancing, bowling and racing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Mike Wetherald officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Robert will be laid to rest beside his wife Lois at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana.

Survivors include his son, Robert Ray Wetherald Jr. of Columbus; daughter Michelle (Dave) Waggoner of North Vernon, IN; brothers, Ronald (Rachel) Wetherald, Daryl (Susie) Wetherald and Tom (Gina) Wetherald all of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Brandon Norman, Cassie Stilwell, and David Waggoner; great-grandchildren, Addie, Mia, Wyatt, Aubrey, Emma, Lydia, Raelynn, Sawyer, Charli, Oliver, Holley, and Allie; sisters-in-law, Roberta Phillips, Ida Rothbauer and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Frances Wetherald; wife, Georgia Lois Wetherald on April 16, 2024; brothers, Jack and Don "Stink" Wetherald; brother-in-law, Vernon Phillips.
