Roger Nelson Loyd, 77, of Seymour, passed away on October 26, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 28, 1948, in Seymour, IN, to the late Nelson "Johnnie" Russell Loyd and Marjorie Ruth (Bolton) Loyd. He married Debbie Hendron on November 8, 2003, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Roger was a member of Surprise Christian Church and the Operators' Union. He worked his entire life as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver and never met a stranger. In his younger days, he enjoyed bird and rabbit hunting, traveling, and spending time with friends. He loved to eat and visit new restaurants and was proud to work for King's Trucking & Excavation, Inc. and Boknecht Trucking, Inc., where he considered everyone family.
He and his wife loved taking road trips that often lasted for days-he would drive anywhere. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, Professional Bull Riding, NCIS, Blue Bloods, basketball, and volleyball. One of his most cherished memories was taking his wife and granddaughter, Jillian, to a Professional Bull Riders event before Jillian's passing. He also treasured the trip he and his son, Rusty, took to the Air Force Academy to watch his granddaughter, Mia, play volleyball.
He was a hardworking man who enjoyed time around the campfire talking with friends Daryl Cooley and Roger Reichenbacker. He celebrated his last Father's Day at his daughter Tracy's house, enjoying a Tomahawk steak, and loved visiting the Sunshine Cafe with his friends from King's Trucking & Excavation, Inc. for his favorite breakfast of bacon and pancakes-whether he was supposed to eat them or not. Roger was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew him.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie Loyd; children, Amber (Chuck) Warner, April (Joseph) Helmsin, Russell "Rusty" (Kristen) Loyd, Tricia (Dusan Tmusic) Pesovic, Tracy (Larry) Howard, Travis (Renee) Lucas, and Layton (Kate) Roberts; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special niece, Carrie (Paul) Taskey; nephew, John Hohnstreiter; and an overabundance of friends.
Preceding Roger in death were his parents, granddaughter Jillian Ruth Pittman, and sister Sara Beth Stickles.
