Yvonne Marie Leonard

Yvonne Marie Leonard, 66, of Elizabethtown passed from this life at 10:10 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2025 at her home surrounded by family.

Yvonne was born June 2, 1958, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Roy and Mary Johnson Brown. On January 12, 2013, she married Randall Lee Leonard.

Mrs. Leonard dedicated many years of her life as a Direct Care Professional with Putnam County Comprehensive Services, where her compassion and intelligence shone through in her unwavering commitment to those in her care. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her professional life as she also served as a beloved Sunday School Teacher, guiding young minds with gentle wisdom and patience. A lover of life's simple pleasures, Yvonne found joy in the warmth of the sun on her face as she walked along the beach, the thrill of discovering treasures at yard sales, and the beauty of sunsets painting the sky. Her zest for travel took her to many places, but she found equal contentment in shopping trips and spending quality time with her cherished family.

Yvonne's sassy personality was matched by her love for jewelry, which was as vibrant and colorful as her character. She lived for her children and grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her boundless love and care. As a devoted wife, Yvonne was the cornerstone of strength and support for her husband, Randall, exemplifying the role of a great caretaker through every season of life. Those who knew Yvonne will remember her as a loving, kind, and intelligent woman. Yvonne's journey on earth has concluded, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding force of love and kindness.

Survivors include her children, Tonya Adams, Jeremy (Melissa) Adams, Autumnbrezze (Michael Smith) Phillips, Ellie Sue Leonard, Finnley Lee Leonard, Amanda (Jacob) Lawson, Kelby Leonard, Randall (Zenitha) Leonard, Melissa (Stan) Sills, Marcella Leonard; grandchildren, Joplyn Adams, Dawson Adams, Bryson Mays, Camden Mays, Beckett Smith, Levi Smith; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Gloria (E.J.) Quicksell, Roger Brown, Nellie (Gerald) Sullivan, Delilah (David) Leffler, Karen Brown, Timothy (Diane) Brown, David Brown; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Shirley Doty, Leroy Brown and Anthony Brown.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11: 00 a.m. Tuesday at Columbus General Baptist Church with Pastor Jessie Stevens officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Burial will be at Azalia Methodist Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Indiana.
