James Delany
James "Jim" E. Delany, 71, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, October 17, 2025.
James was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on March 2, 1954 and was the son of the late Edward B. and Lucille R. (Heling) Delany. He attended and graduated from Immaculate High School in Danbury, Connecticut and continued his education at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in computer science.
In his early years, he was employed in the software department at Perkin-Elmer where he contributed to the Hubble space telescope, and more recently he worked as a software engineer for Revvity in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Jim was a man of many passions and a heart full of love. He adored his dogs, Autumn and Athena, who were constant companions in his everyday life. A creative soul, Jim had a deep passion for photography, always finding new ways to capture life's beauty and memories through a lens. He had an unshakable love for all things tech and could talk for hours about gadgets and innovations. He loved watching the food network, history channel, and travel channel with his daughters. He was a comic book buff, history nerd, gardening enthusiast, science fanatic, '70s rock lover, and he appreciated the timeless charm of all the classics. Jim especially came alive during the holidays, never missing a chance to make events like Halloween and Christmas magical and memorable for his daughters and family. Above all else, Jim cherished time spent with his family. He was a devoted and loving father, partner, brother, uncle, friend and colleague whose warmth and presence touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved the chance to talk to anyone who would listen. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed.
