Noel Shumsky Obituary

Noel James Shumsky
Noel James Shumsky, 73, of Mashpee, MA, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021, with his loving wife Suzanne Paris Shumsky at his side. Born Dec 6, 1947 in Rye New York, Noel was predeceased by his father, world famed violinist Oscar Shumsky and mother Louise Carboni. Noel is survived by his wife, Suzanne, brother Eric, son Brian and step children Brent and Travis.
Noel had a distinguished career in global relocation and held senior executive leadership positions in multiple corporations. If you had asked him what he enjoyed most about his work, he would tell you he was intrigued with the negotiations and loved traveling around the world. Noel had traveled to all seven continents and loved learning about new cultures. His favorite trip was visiting Antarctica with his son Brian because it was different and few people have been able to travel to the bottom of the world. Prior to his work in business, he served as a Staff Sergeant in the New York Army National Guard Infantry. Noel earned a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University after completing his undergraduate work at New York Institute of Technology.
As a photographer, Noel took part decades ago in a seminar at the famed Yosemite Valley School under the tutelage of the great American photographer, Ansel Adams. His photographs have been featured in several gallery shows with some of his publicity photos appearing in magazines and on record covers. Noel had a deep appreciation for art and music having grown up in a family of professionally trained concert musicians.
Those who were closest to Noel felt his greatest talents were cooking and his comedic flair. Noel could have been a stand-up comedian. His larger-than-life character with his warm personality and natural affinity for accentuating the humor and or irony in life could turn an ordinary moment into a laughter-with-tears-flowing moment. A huge affinity for cooking, he and Suzanne attended several cooking schools, local or overseas, and enjoyed recreating those exotic cuisines at home for friends and family. A great lover of cars, foreign and domestic, he was happiest driving around with his wife Suzanne in an open two-seater and dining in lovely restaurants.
Noel grew up in Rye, New York, traveling the world, living in such places as London and Colorado, then settling in Ridgefield, Connecticut for over two decades. Finally retiring in Cape Cod with wife Suzanne and their over sized corgi, Syr. Noel often said he loved the Northeast the most because he appreciated the seasons. He often remarked about the beach and the natural beauty of the Cape. A very loving and good man, Noel will be greatly missed and remembered by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Donations can be made in celebration of his life to the Cape Cod Corvette Club. For online guestbook and condolences, please visit www.ccgfuneralhome.com.
