Patricia Mary Welton, 86, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late Brynley Welton.
Pat was born on March 23, 1939, in Newport, Wales, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Darby) Everson. Pat and Bryn grew up as neighbors in Newport, meeting as schoolmates at St. Julian's School, and began dating in 1954. They married in 1961, and were blessed with two sons, Guy and Craig. In 1965, the family moved from Newport, Wales, to Hazelmere, England, and then to the United States in 1977, settling in Ridgefield, CT. Pat embraced the local community and made many friends in town. She began her career with Lawrence Ltd. and later joined Mercedes Benz Credit Corporation as Re-Marketing Manager in Norwalk. Excelling in all that she did, Pat was named Employee of the Year in 1987 for Mercedes Benz Credit Corp.
Her love of sports was lifelong from watching her dad play professional soccer in Wales, cheering on her husband as he played rugby for the Welsh Junior National team, and supporting her sons as they brought the talent of European soccer to the fields of Ridgefield High School and their respective colleges. Pat's greatest pride was her grandchildren. She doted on Tyler, Courtney and Nicholas since the day each was born. Over the years, the entire family enjoyed several vacations together with Nana and Granchie/Baba, with maybe the most special ones being annual Disney World trips.
Pat was a talented tailor in her spare time and became well-known for hand knitting sweaters for family members and friends. On many occasions, she was offered payment for her services, which she declined. It was just a way to share her kindness. Always a lover of music and singing, Pat joined the Ridgefield Chorale later in life. The friendships she made there were very strong and very important to her. She also enjoyed time spent at Founders Hall with Bryn, attending classes and lectures and reconnecting with friends.
Pat is survived by her two sons, Guy Welton and his wife, Kim, and Craig Welton and his wife, Jennifer. Pat is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler, Courtney and Nicholas; as well as her brother, John Everson.
Memorial Services will take place on Thursday, December 4, at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church,103 Main Street, Ridgefield. Interment will be private and there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Ridgefield Chorale. Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield, is in care of arrangements.
