Pearl Tasch Broms-beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend-passed away peacefully on October 21 at the age of 100.
Predeceased in 2023 by her husband of 60 years, Nelson Broms-and earlier by her brother Edwin Tasch and her parents, Frieda and Simon Tasch-Pearl was born in December 1924 and raised in Brooklyn. She lived a full century marked by love, resilience, creativity, and quiet strength.
Pearl graduated from Samuel J. Tilden High School in 1942. She also attended the New York School of Interior Design and the Art Students League
A talented painter and interior designer, Pearl was notably a set decorator for the Stamford Theatre Works from its founding in 1988 through its shuttering in 2008. She loved finding the furniture and other objects appropriate for each production. She tremendously enjoyed playing and watching tennis, and was a sharp bridge player.
She was the devoted matriarch of her large, blended family-including her children from a previous marriage, Mitchell (and spouse Cheryl) Kaften, Jane (Andrew) Bronfman, and Sandy Capasso; and Nelson's children, Todd and Stuart (Carol) Broms. She also adored her four grandchildren, Amanda (Ross) Firsenbaum, Ben (Esther) Bronfman, James Kaften, and Olivia Capasso; and her and four great-grandchildren, Ellie, David, and Josh Firsenbaum, and Theo Bronfman-and the feeling was reciprocated. They will carry forward her memory, values, and stories.
She made Ridgefield, Connecticut, her home for many years. There, she built a life surrounded by the people and community she loved-and was loved, in return, by all. She had a keen mind, a generous heart, and a sharp wit that remained with her throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
