Rolla - Lula Marie "Boots" Malone, lifelong Rolla resident, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Rolla on May 20, 1929 to the late Marion and Irma (Castleman) Lenox.
On May 7, 1949 she married Wilbert C. Malone and they were later blessed with four children. Mr. Malone passed away in April of 1998.
Boots dedicated her life to her family, especially her children. She was their biggest supporter and was a tremendous influence in each of their lives. Her grandchildren and great-children were the icing on the cake to her and she was proud of each and every one of them. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rolla for over sixty years, a long-time member of Rolla Lioness Club and she and her husband loved to attend dances and parties at the Rolla Lion's Club. She greatly enjoyed her 46 year career as a dental office receptionist, the bulk of which was spent in her son Michael's practice.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Malone was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Marion and John Lenox; grandson, Ryan Malone; and son-in-law, Jerry Hawks.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her four children, Michael Malone and wife Elizabeth, of Rolla, Molly Malone and husband Mark Harris, of Rolla, Mark Malone and wife Rachelle, also of Rolla, and Martha Gilbert and husband Jeff, of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Erma Jean Haas and husband Edward, of Rolla; seven grandchildren, Meghan Canlas, Katie Traw, Kristen Malone, Kaitlin Thornton, Emily Rogler, Joseph Hawks and Samuel Hawks; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Lula "Boots" Malone will be held at 11 am Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery in rural Rolla.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory are suggested to the Adams Cemetery.
