Shirley Day Obituary
She was born on June 11, 1936 in Springfield, IL to the late Larue Foraker and Edith (Reeves) Foraker. On June 2, 1956 she married Delbert Day in Springfield, IL.
Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rolla and a member of the Lydia Circle. She enjoyed riding horses, gardening and playing the piano. Shirley loved traveling with Delbert. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her surviving family which includes: her husband, Delbert Day of Rolla; a son, Ted Day and wife Kim of Rolla; a daughter, Lynne Soleta and husband Don of Rolla; six grandchildren, Andrew Baird, Robert Baird, Gregory Baird, Bret Day, Max Neff and Stephanie Soleta; and four great grandchildren, Avery Baird, Finley Baird, Quentin Baird and Chase Day.
A funeral service for Shirley A. Day will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church.

Dear Delbert. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Shirley. I did not know until recently. My sympathy and prayers to your family. When I was secretary at FUMC Rolla one day she stopped by the office to bring me fresh blackberries she had just picked. It was so kind of her. She was a special lady that I looked up to. Dear Delbert,
I used to see Shirley at the Rolla Rec Center. She was a very kind and sweet lady. Always had a beautiful smile. I am so sorry for your loss. I miss her!

My thoughts & prayers to Delbert & family. It was an honor & privilege to know Shirley / Delbert & Family through my volunteering at Siteman Cancer Center in St Louis. She is an inspiration to me as a volunteer & cancer survivor. I will be riding 50 miles in Pedal the Cause in St. Louis on 9/28/14 & will carry Shirley's name during my ride... Blessings---
