Takeji "Frank" Mori

1917 - 2015

Takeji "Frank" Mori, of Rolla, MO, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at the age of 97.
He was born on April 2, 1917 in Tacoma, Washington to the late Jinshiro Mori and Haru (Kono) Mori. In 1948 he married Katherine (Itschner) Mori in Florsheim, Germany.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Mori on December 9, 2014; an infant son, Billy Mori; one sister, Ekie, and one brother, Shegaki.
Frank served in the U.S. Army for 23 years. He was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War. He was one the last surviving members of the Nisei 442 Combat Battalion Infantry composed of American Japanese Troops.
Frank loved traveling and gardening, especially raising roses. He also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rolla.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: five sons, H. Karl Kost and special friend Allison Holdaway of Rolla, George Frank Mori and wife Verena of Erfurt, Germany, Kurt John Mori of Sacramento, CA, James Michael Mori and partner James Sibley of Boston, MA, and Thomas J. Mori of Lees Summit, MO; six grandchildren, Ernie Kost and wife Carol, G. Karl Kost, Katherine Kost, Christian Arnoldt, Heather Mori and Michelle Mori; a host of great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Frank Mori will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 12 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Rolla.
