Robert Taylor

Reverend Robert Lance Taylor, 87, of the Silvermine Community, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was one of seven children born to the late Jim and Rittie Taylor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Evelyn Taylor. They have four children, all of which live in Swain County: R.L. Taylor (Cheryl), Eddie Taylor (Bonnie), Cylena Hughes (Joey), and Melinda Shuler, (Danny). He is also survived by: brother Mack Taylor (Ellen) of Bryson City; sisters Shirley Suggs of Sophia, NC; and Edith Floyd of Summersville, SC. Robert and wife Evelyn have eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren whom he dearly loved and shared the Word of God with.

Robert was an ordained Baptist minister that preached the Word of God for 58 years and pastored for 39 of those years. Robert loved the Lord and was a member of Silvermine Missionary Baptist Church where he pastored for 36 years. He was a true man of God that loved his wife and family.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Silvermine Missionary Baptist Church. Reverends JD Grant and Eugene Taylor officiated with burial in the Church Cemetery. Robert lied in state from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Church prior to the service.

The family received friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Crisp Funeral Home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
