Bernice Sides

1932 - 2023

Bernice Crump Sides, 90, of Albemarle, Stanly County, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at her daughter's home surrounded by family.
Bernice was born on August 3, 1932, in Albemarle, to the late Rosa Elmina Morton Crump and Cleveland Snowford Crump.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald K. Sides; brothers Grover Monroe Crump, David Onan Crump, Lloyd Richard Crump, Herman Allen Crump and Cicero Armstead Crump; sisters Lois Mary Howe and Alice Rose Jones; and granddaughter Jennifer Stokes.
Bernice retired from banking after 25 years. She loved to cook, and she made the most delicious pound cakes, apple pies and pecan pies. Bernice was an avid reader that enjoyed her flowers and gardens. She collected China, baskets, Fenton glass and Santa Clauses.
She was a faithful servant of the Lord, and she loved her church and church family. Bernice was a 50+ years member of the Church of Christ in Albemarle.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the Church of Christ, 24790 S. Business 52, Albemarle, NC. A celebration of Bernice's life will immediately follow, officiated by Pastor Curtis Parker.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Bill) Cody, Lowell (Buddy) Crawford (Debbie) Lowder, Nina (Terry) Underwood, all of Albemarle, and Cindy Politte of Melbourne, FL; brother Virgil Chase (Nancy) Crump; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special "daughter" Paula Earley; and her constant furry companion, Sam.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Causey and the staff of Cabarrus Family Medicine for years of care and Hospice of Stanly County in easing her passing.
