Marcelene Hamilton Obituary

Marcelene Mann Hamilton, 77, of 313 Webb St., Albemarle, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at her home.Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 at West Albemarle Baptist Church. Rev. Adam Hatley and Rev. Brent Pope will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park.Born March 29, 1931 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Baxter Allen and Bertie Morris Mann.She was a retired employee of Fieldcrest Cannon Mills. She was also a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church since 1941 where she was a member of the church choir, Happiness Club and Training Union.She was married to the late Harlie L. Hamilton who preceded her in death in 2000.Survivors include three sons, Harlie Eugene Hamilton and wife Cathy of Myrtle Beach S.C.; Randy Allen Hamilton and wife Debbie and Jeffrey Dean Hamilton and wife Laura both of Albemarle; one daughter, Vickie H. Coley and husband Horace of Albemarle; two sisters, Macie Hinson and husband Jim of Albemarle and Patty Morton and husband Lonnie of Albemarle; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Farrell Mann and Gene Mann.The family will received friends at West Albemarle Baptist Church Family Life Center on Monday from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. prior to the hour of service.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to West Albemarle Baptist Church (Bus Fund), 336 Church St., Albemarle, N.C. 28001 or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, N.C. 28001Stanly Funeral Home is in charge.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
