Yancey Morrow Obituary

Yancey Maurice (Y.M.) Morrow, 69, of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center after a 21-day battle with thyroid cancer.Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle. Service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Zion United Methodist Church with military honors in Mount Gilead.Y.M. was born April 2, 1940 to Jack Bagley and Addie Smith Morrow. Y.M. was a member of the Mount Gilead High School class of 1958 and he loved to fish, garden and golf. Y.M. also had a big heart when it came to animals and especially loved "Tiny."Y.M. was preceded in death by his father, Jack Bagley Morrow; sister, Amelia Morrow Mclean; and niece, Mitzi Morrow Kivett.Survivors include: mother, Addie Smith Morrow of the home; brothers, Kenneth Bagley Morrow and wife Peggy, Mitchell Rankin Morrow and wife Judy and brother-in-law, Robert A. (Bob) McLean, all of Mount Gilead; nieces, Alesia Morrow Brown and husband Shawn of Troy, Laura McLean Allen and husband Richard of Peachland, and Cyndi Morrow Kuhn and husband Will of Cherry Point; and nephews, Scott Morrow and wife Jennifer of Mount Gilead, and Chad McLean of Georgia.The family would like to express their gratitude to the following who helped them cope during this difficult time: Hospice of Stanly County, Alicia McKinnon, Dr. Garry Schwartz, and Dr. Allison Baldwin.Memorials may be made to: Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N.
