ULLIN -- Carroll Lee Thompson, 86, formerly of Anna, died at 7:05 p m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, in Daystar Care Center in Cairo.
He was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Elco, the son of Carroll Henry and Lena (Hileman) Thompson. He married Gladys Rose Sharp on Aug. 17, 1947, in Arkansas.
Carroll proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was of Baptist faith.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Deanna Bevil of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; brother-in-law, Joe (Joann) Sharp of Cobden; sister-in-law, Emma Whitson of Tulsa, Okla.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys Rose Thompson; daughter, Vickie Lee Bevil; and infant son, Davy Joe Thompson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Lacy Betts officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola with graveside military rites conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna and Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
