Clinton Massey Obituary
He was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Greenwood, Miss., one of seven children born to Mattie Massey.
Clinton was an Army veteran.
He worked for E.T. Simonds Construction Company for several years. He retired from Secretary of State in 1998.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Flora M. Massey of Springfield; six daughters, Valorie Robinson (Paul) of Springfield, Betty Jamison of Springfield, Shevita Jackson Newport News, Va., Debora Scott (Zegary) of Murphysboro, Sondra Hayes (Eddie) of Springfield, Jennifer Kirkwood (Marvell) of Springfield; and two sons, Clinton Massey Jr. and Gregory Massey of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one son, Darryl Massey; one daughter, Jacqueline Massey; and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
Jackson Funeral Home in Carbondale is in charge of local arrangements.

God has called home one of my mentors, heros and christian brother. I and my family are going to miss Chief. Growing up in Murphysboro, Il. and watching how Mr. Clint loved the Lord and his family inspired me to want to be like him. And I count it all joy for being able to serve on the same deacon ministry with him. May God continue to bless you and your family.
