Missing you. What I wonder who you would be and what you would be up to today. The things I can be sure of is that you would be kind, sweet and always with that darling smile I will always remember so fondly as we got through art class together and lots of parties together - you were such a great friend and buddy to me - You are missed.

Lappe Family, I am sorry to hear of the loss of David. There are so many fond childhood memories that I have with David as a part of them...little league baseball games, going to WWF wresting matches at the Kiel, baling hay on the farm and eating late night dinners at Goodall's (Gary's). David always brought energy and laughter to the occassion.

David I am going to miss you so much. I love you man. Your memory and spirit will be with me the rest of my life. That's a fact.

Dear Brother David: I will miss you terribly but I find comfort in knowing you are in a better place. I prayed to God all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday to just send me a penny to let me know you are in Heaven. Guess what? On Monday, before the funeral, I walked into the Church to gather with the family. I had plenty of seats to choose from but chose to sit in the pew. I picked up the prayer book that was lying where I was about to sit. To my surprise, I found not one, but two pennies in the corner of the pew. Now this was no coincidence!!! I know these were "Pennies from Heaven"!!!! Today the sun is shining and I know you're watching over your friends and family (if that's possible since there are so many). You were the most loving and giving person I know(not to mention the funniest person I have ever known). I will always cherish our deer hunting adventures - you would be cleaning my deer at midnight while I was sleeping inside the trailer. You always went the extra mile to make deer hunting a pleasurable experience. I remember several occasions when you told me "I don't care if I get a deer or not, I just want you to get one". I only hunted for five years before I ever got one, and that was only because Owen was my good luck charm. Remember this past hunting season when you asked me to take Kayla hunting and to do whatever it takes to get her excited about the outdoors? Kayla was so excited she fell asleep in the middle of hunting. I came back to the trailer and we shared a laugh that Kayla will only love the outdoors if there is a mall she can shop at. All joking aside, I love you sooooo much and will do everything I possibly can to guide Kayla and Owen in the right direction. Our family has always been exceptionally close but I know this will make us even closer. We have been sitting around these past few days exchanging "David stories". We laugh, we cry, we sigh, and we ask "what if"? The only thing I'm sure of is that you are at peace and I will miss you dearly. Little brother, you have always been more than just a little brother - you were my friend. So long for now but we will meet again. Rest in Peace!!!!!

Dear Lappe Family & Loved Ones, I am incredibly disheartened & in shock at the loss of Dave. I am sorry to have just learned & to have missed his services. He & I went to High School together & made fast friends with similar senses of humor & the love of pranks. He used to come over senior year (92) & have me do his art sketches - :) Dave was a LIGHT everywhere he went, no person was not his friend - he was special, unique & brought something no one else could. I am so saddened by his loss. I remember almost falling out of my chair at lunch one day when he was voted class president ~ as he was class clown, really! His heart really was full of love and good humor, I will miss him & it is hard to have this news. To his parents; You raised an incredible boy into a great young man who brought so much GOOD to so many people. Rest assured in this. May God hold him, and ALL of you, in the palm of his Hand. To his children; Please remember this, while there is nothing harder than losing your parent (I lost my Dad, too..) He truly is ALWAYS WITH YOU. And not just in your hearts and your memories - he is closer than you think - Heaven really isnt all THAT far away. You can talk to him, and believe me, he will know. And you will know exactly what he would reply to you, what he would say, if he would laugh, or even not want you to do something.. This stays with you forever - CHERISH it. In doing this you are honoring your Dad & living out his legacy ~ your special gift of your Dad will always, always be with you, even though he is not here for you to see. Mine is, I still hear his lectures! And I still know the moments in my life when I know he would be most proud of me. Love never, ever dies - especially between parents and their children. I hope you all find comfort, peace, & acceptance at some point along this bumpy road of loss. I am very sorry for this loss. While nothing can replace - you have MUCH to hold onto. Dave certainly was one for making memories - without even knowing it :) ALL good things to you and yours and may God Bless you, hold you, keep you, and forever smile on you. All My Love, Mary Elizabeth Beary

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel about Davids death. I do remember many, many great times with David. He was always the life of the party, always making people laugh. One of my favorite memories was going to his favorite fishing spot, where we used to jump the fence. Although I'm not big into fishing, I think it was one of my favoite memories because he loved it so much. His humor was the reason so many of us loved him so much. Trying to keep up with you as a child was almost impossible, but I tried. Growing up, we got into alot of mischief and I usually got caught(with the exception of us almost burning your parents garage down, we both got it then, lol). You will be missed but will live on forever in countless stories, pictures and memories with all of us.
To the Lappe family, you were my home away from mine. Thank you for all of your kindness through the years to me and my family. Your good sweet nature has shown through right on down the generation. May you find peace.

Dear Tormentor of My Youth,
You always had the last laugh. I never thought that I’d be thankful for all the pranks you pulled on me, (from the fake My Size Barbie to the weed eater incident), they give us something to laugh about during the times we need it the most. Beyond your unusual sense of humor, you have given our family other priceless gifts that we will cherish forever. I will always look after Kayla and Owen for you.

Rest in Peace, David. When I think of how we sat in your basement on Rogers Drive and played Atari as boys, and how you ALWAYS had a Kool-Aid stain on your upper lip as we rode our bikes up and down the street, it is terribly difficult, and painful, to believe you are truly gone. You will always exist in my fondest memories of childhood. To David's family, please accept my sincerest condolences. Warmest regards from your neighbor of many years.
