DONGOLA - John W. Spurlock, 92, died Monday, May 28, 2007, in Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Anna, the son of George W. Spurlock and Cordilla F. (Sadler) Spurlock.
He married Mable Williams on May 5, 1934, in Cairo.
He worked as a laborer for several years and was a member of Laborers Local 1330.
He is survived by his wife, Mable; three sons, Johnny of Dongola, Frank and wife, Pam, of Decatur and Mark and wife, Clara, of Dongola; two daughters, Betty Post and husband, Joe, of Jonesboro, and Rita Hancock and husband, Mike, of Jonesboro; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Lorene Morgan of Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie W. Spurlock; four brothers; and four sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home, with the Revs. Carl Land and Jeff Bond officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at the funeral home.
