Larry Wisely Obituary

CARBONDALE - Larry D. Wisely, 69, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family.

At Larry's request, he will be cremated and there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, Larry would like for you to take a child fishing in his honor.

Larry was born Dec. 13, 1939, in Vergennes, to Roy A. and Eula B. (Moss) Wisely. He married Sharon K. Lence on Jan. 18, 1958, in Murphysboro.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Wisely of Carbondale; six children and their spouses, Cheryl and James Bias of Corona, Calif., Daniel and Mitzi Wisely of Queen Creek, Ariz., Denice and Paul Toth of Queen Creek, Ariz., Brad and Debbie Wisely of Wittman, Ariz., Alan and Cindy Wisely of Gloucester, Va., and Brian Wisely of Glendale, Ariz.; sister, Hilda Castleberry of Lakewood, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosella Wisely.

Larry retired in 1998 after 30 years of service as a facilities manager at Motorola in Tempe, Ariz. He and his wife, Sharon, lived in Arizona for more than 40 years before returning to Carbondale in 2002. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing and being around nature. He also loved music and took great pleasure in playing and building lap steel guitars.

The family wishes to thank Pastor Dan Boyd for all of his visits.

Larry will be missed by his loving family and many friends.
