Mark Snow Obituary

LAKE of EGYPT -- Mark P. Snow, 53, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, in St. Anthony's Medical Center, in Michigan City, Ind., of multiple organ failure.

Mark was raised in Wheeling and Park Ridge. He attended the University of Illinois, where he was All-American in foil fencing in 1980 and 1981. He continued at University of Illinois as a fencing coach and worked as a phlebotomist at Carle Clinic and Hospital in Urbana where he met his former wife, Maureen Klemme, who survives in Marion. In 1990, Mark and Maureen moved to Southern Illinois where Mark was a regional salesman for Crow's Hybrid Seed Company. He met and enjoyed many conversations with farmers and their families in Southern Illinois and the bootheel of Missouri.

Mark co-founded fencing clubs in Belleville and Mascoutah where he coached many fencers from St. Louis and the metro-east area.

In 2001, Mark began working for a family company Fullco Industries and lived in Paris, Tenn. He later moved to Sycamore and Michiana, Mich.

Mark is survived by his father, Thomas of Addison; his sister Chris (James) Barca of Burr Ridge; his brother, Timothy (Karen) of Northbrook; and several special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Special friends of Southern Illinois included Dava and Roger Thomas of Sturgis, Ky.; Karen and Wayne Belford of Junction; Alice and Kent Seavers and sons of Lake of Egypt, the Jackanicz families of West Frankfort and Theo Wells, formerly of Red Bud.

A memorial Mass was Wednesday, June 20, at St. Philips Catholic Church in Addison.

Mark was my fencing coach in the late 90's in Belleville. A great man who taught me so much more than just how to use a foil. Rest in peace Mark you wont be forgotten.

My sympathy to Mark's family. I dated Mark many years ago when he attended the U of I in Champaign, Il before he met his wife Maureen. I just happened to hear of his death. What a loss at such a young age. God's peace to you all.
