Opal Gregg Obituary

CAMBRIA - Opal L. Gregg, 82, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in Herrin Hospital.

Mrs. Gregg was a homemaker and a member of Carbondale Church of God.

She was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Johnston City, to Benjamin Pledger and Lillie (Emery) Pledger Annis.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James Edward and Diane Gregg of Walworth, Wis., and Kevin and Joy Gregg of Cambria; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine L. and Joe Tolbert of Herrin; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Linda and Donald Hildebrand of St. Louis, Treva and Dwayne White of Pinckneyville, Ramona and Tony Laffoon of Herrin and Velda Jo Messamore of Johnston City; several nieces and nephews; and her very devoted caregiver, Sarah Miller of Carterville.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lee Gregg; parents; three sisters, Carolyn Roberts, Shirley Price and Tenny Annis; and one brother, Loren Annis.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Manuel Jackson and the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be in Cundiff Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Carbondale Church of God.
