WEST FRANKFORT - Peggy Jean Shum, 93, of West Frankfort, died at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at Herrin Hospital.
She was a member at First Christian Church of West Frankfort.
She retired after 18 years of service in January 1996 from Illinois Farmers Union (now known as Mantracon) in Zeigler.
Survivors include her husband, John Shum Jr. of West Frankfort; three sons, Glenn Jackson of Mt. Erie, David Allan Jackson of Cairo and Larry Gene Jackson of Marion; four step-children, Jon Edward Shum of Birmingham, Alabama, Mary Judith Campbell of Syracuse, New York, Martha Joan Shum of Carbondale and Phillip Corey Shum of Birmingham, Alabama; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Haddon, Shaffer, Graham and Molly Jackson; other extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted Oral and Clarabel (Stone) Hargrave; one step-grandson and one sister.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in Stone Funeral Home with Tim Humphreys officiating. Inurnment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.
For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be directed to the "First Christian Church of West Frankfort." Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL 62896.
