Robert Gaumnitz Obituary
HERRIN - Robert Arnold "Bob" Gaumnitz, 67, of Herrin, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Bob worked as a mechanical drafter for Hawk Bilt in Vinton, Iowa. He later worked for Northside School in Herrin in the Cafeteria and on the playground.
Bob loved raising his daughter, Kaylee, as she grew up.
Bob attended the First Christian Church in Herrin.
Bob was born Aug. 10, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Arnold and Marian (Fischer) Gaumnitz.
Bob married Julie A. Massey on June 1, 1985, in Columbus Junction, Iowa. She survives him at their home in Herrin.
He is also survived by his daughter, Kaylee Gaumnitz of San Marcos, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Douglas Neve of Jacksonville, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Gaumnitz of Lenexa, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home, with Rev. Eric Lam officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
