PICKNEYVILLE - Ross Lee Zeidler, 83, of Pinckneyville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Florida.
Ross was born on March 31, 1940, to Ogle and Viola Zeidler in Sparta. He received his education in Sparta.
Ross married Carole Dunn in 1962 in Pinckneyville, and they were married 61 years.
He is survived by three sons, John (Sabrina), Tim (Dana) and David (Julie); grandchildren Luke, Laci, Morgan and Caden; step grandchildren Colton, Camryn and Taylor; brothers, Ronnie Zeidler and Gene Zeidler; and sister, Kathryn Currat.
Ross worked for many years at Dunn Bros. Motors, a family business which he loved. He later went to work at the Capital Development Board of the State of Illinois. He enjoyed interacting with a variety of architects, engineers and construction companies there. He retired from this job at the age of 70.
Ross was a member of First Baptist Church having accepted Christ in 1967. He had been a member of the Perry County Housing Board for many years acting as chairman of the bvoard for 20 years. He had been a member of Perry County Country Club and was president of that club for two years. He was also a member of the Lions Club, the Elks and the Optimist Club.
Ross and Carole had just returned from a vacation to Cancun, Mexico, with the entire famil,y including grandchildren, days before he passed away. This memory is a blessing that all the family will cherish.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ogle and Viola Zeidler; brothers-in-law, Dick Wilson and Jay Currat; and sister-in-law, Kathy Zeidler.
A Celebration of Life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in First Baptist Church in Pickneyville. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. Dinner follow the services at the Grecian Restaurant. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home.
