Brandon Buttrey

June 1, 2009

My name is Brandon Buttrey and I have been serving in the United States Navy for the past 7 1/2 years as a Hospital Corpsman. No matter where my career has taken me over the years Sean McGuire has never left my memories. When you meet someone that has so much energy and a natural high for life you tend to not forget them. I met seat while I attended the Cape Public school system and while playing baseball for the city. I can remember Sean as the type of person that everyone wanted to be around to be uplifted. Between his sparking personality and his quick witted humor Sean was such a great guy to hang out with. I can remember in high school we had English together with Mrs. Fox. Man we used to get under her skin. I do believe that is when he came up with the pun "Ah tis a joke to me". It was hard to read Shakespeare in that class with Sean in the background cutting up, but over all he made the class very enjoyable. Outside of the classroom Sean was an all around guy. From his athletic abilities, church involvement, and his devotion to family and friends you could not have asked to be around a better person.
I have not seen Sean for quite some time now and I think the last time was when I visited Cape after being deployed to Iraq. He was so interested in knowing how things were over there and was glad to see I made it back safe. I could see that he had not changed one bit. It was very hard to hear of his death. I want to send my deepest condolences to his family and friends from the bottom of my heart. Sean has stayed in my memories and heart since the day I met him and I know for a fact that he will never leave there. Thank you Sean for the smiles and laughter you have brought everyone including myself. You will be missed dearly.

Thank you,
