CARBONDALE – Dr. Sheffield Boardman, Jr, 79, passed away on Sunday, January, 2, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale with Father Robert Flannery officiating. For those who cannot attend the service, it will be live streamed on the funeral home website (www.meredithfh.com). Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois (Team Blue West).

I can never forget the caring and compassion he displayed on a daily basis at the hospital
His sincerity was shown in every thing he did for his patients and their loved ones.
There will never be another one like him.

Dr Boardman was one of the most kind caring physicians I have ever known
He was my husbands Dr
Also a co worker( I was an RN)

Dr Boardman was my husbands physician at a devastating time regarding my husbands health issue.
He was so kind and caring he informed us my husband was being sent to St. Louis, then said, " Let´s join hands and pray"
And we did.
I later was privileged to work with him ( as an RN) at Memorial Hospital and saw first hand the kindness and compassion he shared with all his patients and their families
He was a wonderful man and a great physician.

Sheff was a wonderful person and doctor. He was always so kind and caring.
He was admired, respected and loved by everyone that knew him. It was a blessing for me to work with him.

He was a compassionate, kind, caring physician that I had the privilege of working with at the hospital, as well as being my late husbands physician.
Definitely none of the finest human beings I have ever known.
