Thomas E. Potter
ELKVILLE - Thomas E. Potter, 65, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Thomas had worked for 23 years as superintendent for the water and sewer in Elkville. He had most recently worked at Kincade Water Plant and Elverado Water District.

He was a member of Elkville Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Fairlane Club of America and Southern Illinois Street Machines.

He was born May 1, 1943, in West Frankfort, the son of Orville and Lynwood Potter.

He married Gail C. Lindsey in 1963. They were married for 45 years and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Elkville; one daughter, Lisa Potter of De Soto; special cousin, Phyllis Tow of Carbondale; and all of his special friends of Southern Illinois Street Machines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. James Kerley and Brother Ron Kreid officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at Carbondale.

Potter Family:
My deepest sympathies go out to your family in this time of sorrow. May God bless your family. I used to work at the Chestnut Cafe in DeSoto. I waited on the Potter family many of times. He was a very sweet man.
