Virgil Minton Obituary
He was born Dec. 21, 1974, in West Frankfort to Virgil Minton and Micky (Oliver) Patton.
Survivors include his loving parents, Virgil and Susie Minton and Mickey and Mike Patton, all of West Frankfort; two sisters, Keely Gelso and husband, Jack, of Zeigler and Abbey Minton of West Frankfort; two brothers, Matthew Patton and Jason Patton, both of West Frankfort; his grandmother, Joyce Minton Mullins of West Frankfort; a nephew, Cole Jackson Lee Gelso of Zeigler; an aunt and two uncles, Chris and Esther Minton of Indiana and Jimmy Oliver of California; two cousins, who were like brothers, Chris "CD" Minton of Colorado and Sean Minton of Indiana; the love of his life, Marsha Whitaker and son, Jullian Leham, whom he resided with in Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Virginia Oliver, Virgil Raymond Minton and Harold Jack Mullins.
Virgil served in the Army, attaining the rank of specialist fourth class in Special Operations in the Airborne Division.
To his many friends and family he was known as "Bubby." He will be sadly missed by his loved ones and many friends.
Virgil was a proud classmate of the West Frankfort class of 1993. He was a former president and charter member of the men's auxiliary of VFW Post 5764 in West Frankfort. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Frankfort.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, with the Rev. Stan Reed officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW in West Frankfort and the American Legion of Orient. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007, to the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home.
Friends who wish to make memorials may do so to the VFW in West Frankfort. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Virgil was a good friend of my son, Jeremy Anastasi, & I do remember him very well. He was a good kid & will be missed by many. My heart goes out to all of you & my prayers, too. May God help you all though this very difficult time.
